Satara Municipal Corporation
Satara Municipal Corporation
The project was designed for the municipal corporation of Satar.
The spatial arrangement and masing of the built form is done based on the climate and sun path analysis. The services like the toilet block have been kept towards the southern side of the building. This is preferable climatically and it is towards the rear side of the building. Balconies have been provided facing the North. Vertical zoning has been done based on the function of the space. The VIP area has been kept on the topmost floor to give them privacy. A separate entry and core have been provided for the VIP movement.
The spatial experience has been given importance and is made interesting with the central flight of steps leading to the focal point i.e the courtyard and a bridge at a higher level makes the movement to and from the canteen convenient and interesting.
Sustainability and flexibility of spaces have been given importance.
Wadas are an important feature of the architectural style in the area. Therefore a central courtyard at the first-floor level has been provided facing the North. This brings in north light into the space and also allows cross-ventilation within the building.
